TODA KOGYO Exhibits CO₂ Management Technology Using Iron Oxide at the COP29 Japan Pavilion Virtual Showcase

TODA KOGYO CORP. (TSE: 4100, hereafter, “the Company”) announces that the Company exhibited virtually its three products and technologies in the field of CO₂ reduction measures at the Japan Pavilion at the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (hereafter, “COP29”), which was held in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan from November 11th to 22nd, 2024.

COP stands for Conference of the Parties, which is an international conference that discusses a framework to prevent global warming, and 197 member countries of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change participate. It has been held almost every year since 1995, and this year marks the 29th meeting. The Japan Pavilion, hosted by the Ministry of the Environment, disseminated information about Japan's excellent technologies and initiatives to the world.

The Company is aware that environmental issues are of such significant and inevitable if it is to survive as a chemical manufacturer. The Company has been engaging to minimize the environmental burden so far, such as shifting its production processes from the dry synthesis method, which has a substantial environmental impact, to the pollution-free wet synthesis method, and recycling waste fluid from steel plate manufacturers and waste from its plants in an effort.

In addition, based on the Concept of Sustainability, the Company formulates the Environmental Vision* to accelerate its efforts to reduce its environmental impact and promote the safe management of chemical substances. In the activities of this Environmental Vision, the Company sets specific numerical targets such as targets for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions like CO₂ and promotes the reduction of environmental impact and the safe management of chemical substances.

In this showcase, the Company introduces three key products and technologies: Combustion Catalyst Material, CO₂ Solid Sorbent, and technologies for generating CO₂-free hydrogen and CNTs. The Company is engaging in the development of these products and technologies to contribute to the realization of carbon neutrality, by reducing GHG emissions and generating new energy and useful materials along with these actions.

Going forward, the TODA KOGYO Group will continue to work together with our stakeholders to realize a sustainable society through products and technologies that contribute to efforts to reduce environmental impact.
